Project Manager – Automotive

We’re looking for an astute Project Engineer/Manager with automotive experience. to join a major innovative turnkey solutions provider to a global customer base of major automotive clients.

As a Project Manager, you’ll be field based, acting as a customer contact, delivering premium automotive joining systems to improve end users’ manufacturing process. You’ll ensure RFQs are specified correctly and quoted, delivered and commissioned in line with the customer’s needs.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate and develop action plans, manage resources, order components and provide scheduling to complete projects on time.
  • Act as the central contact for the customer and interact with several layers of stakeholders.
  • Work with the customer’s Program Manager to provide input into detailed execution-timing plans including critical path timing, mitigation timing plans.
  • Develop a technical understanding of all product lines
  • Support customer technical reviews and buyoffs as requested by the customer
  • Manage customer expectations by providing on-site interface for the customer
  • Monitor and react to key performance indicators and anticipate issues prior to escalation
  • Develop and maintain thorough understanding of the customer’s processes and organizational structure
  • Provide regular updates to customer centre management team on project status, support needed and red flags
  • Understand contractual deliverables, in content and contractual obligations as they relate to assigned projects.
  • Centrally manage all project documentation and transparently log all meeting notes, engineering changes, cost summaries and timing schedules

 

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or Apprenticeship Scheme preferably in Engineering, Business or related discipline
  • 3+ years of working as a project engineer in the automotive industry
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel, Office 365, SharePoint sites and other relevant software applications.
  • Proven experience in technical project management, preferably with OEM customers in automotive production and/or comparable industries
  • Experience of joining technologies, namely self-pierce riveting, flow drill screws and adhesive bonding
  • Project scheduling tools experience: Workfront and MS Project (advantageous)
  • Self-motivated and result-oriented work style
  • Experience of PLC’s and line control systems
  • Team approach

  • Clean driving licence and able to travel and work on customer sites
