A leading manufacturer of hydraulic and industrial equipment is looking to strengthen its QA team and recruit a Quality Assurance Officer.

This role will be integrated into the Compliance team and will report directly to the Operations Director. The Quality Team strives for excellence and continuous improvement. They ensure that all processes, from raw materials to finished goods, follow the company and quality standards, and that compliance with ISO9001 and QAN is always maintained.

The successful candidate will have a key role in supporting the Quality Management System and maintaining/developing of the best business processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The role will be made up of key responsibilities as well as some cross-over / shared tasks that will overlap with our QA Team Leader

  • Clear and maintain goods inwards inspection under KPI-driven timelines.
  • Manage and maintain stock of gauges, supporting with the maintenance of recalibration register and ensuring that all gauges are kept within calibration
  • A good understanding as well as being able to ensure the management of all aspects of REACH, Rosh, CMRT and COSH regulations.
  • Health & Safety compliant
  • Advise on the control of waste, WEEE compliance, battery compliance
  • Understand the basic requirements for CE/UKCA
  • Understand necessary industry standards, maintenance and implementation
  • Understand/maintain changes to our QMS, with a specific understanding of ISO9001 and the QAN process.
  • Must be able to use a range of inspection and measurement equipment to a high level. This includes the following – CMM Aberlink system, Mitutoyo Surface Measurement, Trimos Height Gauge, Bore, Thread and Plug Gauges.
  • Implementing TQM
  • Internal audit/external audit experience.
  • Understand and read technical drawings.
  • understand inspection methods and be able to apply them.
  • Aid investigations for all non-conformity, identify root causes and follow up with corrective actions and preventative actions.

Shared Tasks:

  • Manage continuous improvement
  • Lead quality projects that increase effectiveness, improve product quality and H&S within the company, have experience in presenting improvement matters to stakeholders
  • Strict compliance with quality, occupational safety, and environmental regulations
  • Champion and support the team on procedures, working instructions and SOPs
  • Responsible for critical statistical analysis of inspection and compliance data to help assess business performance

Skills & Responsibilities:

  • 3+ years experience in the manufacturing industry or similar
  • HND or equivalent experience in engineering
  • Able to identify risks or potential areas for development
  • Capable of aiding technical investigations
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent writing and verbal skills
  • A team player but with the initiative to make their own decisions and work with minimal supervision
  • Self-starter, able to identify requirements independently, then make proposals for solutions
  • Able to work under pressure, to tight deadlines, often with ever-changing priorities
  • Aptitude to learn from others and share knowledge with
