We’re on the lookout for commercially minded Engineers, preferably with experience in the pumps industry. Our principal consultant Robin Thomas, has an exciting opportunity to join a UK based manufacturer of precision-engineered pumps and associated systems, serving customers all around the globe.

The Commercial & Process Engineer is a newly created role within the business, designed to optimise the end to end commercial processes.

You’ll do so via the review of customer enquiries, detailed techno commercial quote preparation, forecasting and order processing activities using systems such as Dolphin and Salesforce.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the wider Dolphin team to champion the implementation, development and maintenance of the Dolphin tool as the selection, configuration, pricing, quotation and forecasting tool for the Business Unit
  • Review formal customer enquiries to determine project suitability and prepare detailed technical and commercial quotations through Dolphin
  • Champion the use of Salesforce within the Business unit
  • Obtain supplier quotations to enable accurate equipment costing
  • Provide technical support to customers throughout the pre-order stage
  • Support the external Sales team during the technical and commercial bid evaluation phrase and attend customer meetings (office or site) as necessary
  • Develop and implement efficient processes for initial contract review, order entry through Dolphin, preparation of handover documentation, updating and maintaining the ECOF
  • Assist the contracts department with technical queries during the manufacturing period
  • Raise non-export invoices (Final and stage payments), credit/debit notes and return orders, resolving invoice queries in a timely manner
  • Liaise with customer regarding specification changes, witness testing, delivery, and general technical support
  • Work with the production team to meet customer delivery requirements
  • Prepare for and attend regular departmental and production meetings

Skills & Experience 

Essential

  • Customer focused and work well under pressure
  • Engineering knowledge, preferably within the pumps industry
  • Highly numerate with competent IT skills, particularly Excel and Word

Desirable

  • Experience of pump selection and operation, including system interaction
  • Knowledge of pump applications within the Fire industry
  • Experience of contract – both technical documentation and negotiation of Ts & Cs
