As a Field Service Engineer for our client’s Service Business line, you’ll be supporting the firm’s tooling and joining solutions technologies across business areas that include; Motor Vehicle Industry (MVI), General Industry (GI), and Industrial Assembly Solutions (IAS)
To succeed in this role you’ll need a sound mechanical and electrical competence plus the capability to support and work on software and integration systems with installation, commissioning and planned maintenance activities.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Handle production critical systems in industrial environments, understanding the links between tooling applications, customer production processes and the associated IT products & solutions
- Carry out pre-delivery testing and inspection of tools as appropriate prior to delivery/site installation
- Install and commission new tooling and industrial assembly solutions at customer locations
- Provide support and assistance for project delivery, working closely with Project Managers
- System integration and configuration of customer PLC interfaces to company solutions
- Testing and validation
- Problem resolution and root cause analysis
- Customer training and operation guidance
- Support customer staff in pilot phases
- Determine and undertake all necessary preventative maintenance on all power tool product, industrial assembly solutions products and software solutions
- Carry out calibration, testing and certification of all company power tool products
- Identify and deliver sales opportunities (software/upgrades, optimisation) for field service, working closely with company Service Sales Managers
Required Skills & Experience
- Mechanical and electrical competence with applicable data services, software, and integration skills
- HNC in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Working knowledge and experience of:
– Industrial power tools i.e. Pneumatic, Battery and DC, and supporting software
– Manufacturing or customer service environment
– Network infrastructure
- Confidence and attitude to integrate into the business as a good team player
- Keen eye and high attention to detail
- Drive and commitment to see the job through to a successful conclusion
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience of PLC’s and line control systems
- Experience of providing a Service to customers
- Ability to identify alternatives to current thinking, developing and implementing innovative solutions to problems
Important Considerations
- Successful candidate will ideally be located in the Midlands or North West regions
- UK wide travel will be essential to be successful in this role
- Must be able to attend on site work as required and develop within the team
- Occasional overnight stays/overtime in line with customer and business requirements will be expected
- Must have a valid UK Driving Licence
