We’re looking for Field Service Engineers with experience in the purification industry, to join an independent hydraulic engineering and filtration specialist.
As a Field Service Engineer, you’ll carry out servicing, fault diagnosis and audits at customers sites on a range of filtration and separation equipment, hydraulic systems, and mechanical and electrical control systems.
Based in the South/Midlands of England, the role will include travel around the UK. This is a varied role covering different industries and many different applications.
Although a hands-on role, the Field Service Engineer will be expected to generate sales leads and discuss with customers additional work scopes in line with growing the business.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with legislative and environmental requirements (H&S) and ensure risk assessments and method statements have been utilised
- Plan and coordinate work in an efficient manner liaising with Service Administration, Project Management, third party suppliers and end customer
- Efficiently carry out all Service works as per contract and provide timelines to deliver an outstanding service for the customer
- Provide assistance and support on a ‘consultancy’ level to the customer
- Provide technical support both internally and to customers in preparation of work execution such as risk assessment, method statements, permits to work etc.
- Ensure that parts, materials, and equipment are in line with specifications
- Manage and deliver reports in a timely manner as required for both internal and external visibility
- Have a visionary ‘Sales’ approach to provide ‘add-on’ and new work lines with customers, thereby contributing to the growth of the business
Expectations, Skills & Experience
- Experience working in a busy Service department supporting blue chip clients
- Experienced engineers with skill sets gained within the Purification sectors
- Experience working in a field/remote service role supporting an expanding customer base
- Experience planning and executing day-to-day Service tasks of Installation, Maintenance, Servicing and Commissioning of varied equipment in accordance with current industry legislation and within contract and budget
- Willingness to work away from home on occasion (as required)
- Flexibility with working hours to suit the business needs (Breakdowns, Callouts etc.)
- Offshore travel of a period of 5-7 days occasionally through the year will be a requirement.(No more than 4-5 times a year with plenty of notice)
- Work split will be approx. 50% on the road, 50% working from home (with occasional requirement to support the southern workshop in Portsmouth)
Education & Qualifications
- Professional qualification or proven track record of gained skills with the ability to work across multi disciplines (electrical and mechanical) competently and safely
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience within the purification industry and a good process knowledge of Filtration and other purification systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage both internal junior/trainee engineers, sub-contractors, and the end customer
- Excellent IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and the ability to stay organised whilst multi-tasking
- Ability to fault find both to a basic electrical and mechanical level
- Hands-on with installation, repair, modification work which includes various pipe work formats, electrical control systems (PLC literate basic) installed across Industrial, Food & Beverage and Health Care sectors
- Ability to understand electrical, mechanical, and P&ID drawings
