We’re looking for a qualified accountant with relevant experience, to join and help scale a major distribution and manufacturing business that operates in the Fluid Power market.

As the company’s financial controller, you’ll take on a key role within the division putting in place effective controls and processes that will drive better data sets and information flow, improving visibility and consistency across the division enabling improved decision making. The role will have a host business, which they will have primary responsibility for, whilst taking on responsibility for the production and analysis of the Divisional Financials.

The company works with a diverse customer base covering, OEMs, distributors, systems integrators, and end users across the UK fluid power industry.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare divisional results, loading TB’s as appropriate into HFM, then reviewing and analysing the financial statements for accuracy and meaning
  • Use your strong understanding of working capital to drive improvement initiatives
  • Monthly preparation of P&L, Balance Sheet & Cashflow with supporting commentary and variance analysis and submission into HFM
  • Provide support and guidance to the Divisional Management Accountant for production of the local entities
  • Manage a divisional entity with a divisional based stock holding, which will transact with the local entities where inter co trading and stock control will be key
  • Field queries from the transactional staff offering guidance on AP/AR matters
  • Lead the completion of the annual audit and liaise with auditors where applicable
  • Work with the Divisional FD to produce the annual budget and strategic plan, updating for forecasts in line with group timetables throughout the year
  • Produce the division’s rolling cashflow forecast
  • Look to develop and improve company financial processes where applicable
  • Support the divisional FD to drive improvement initiatives, tracking and reporting progress against them and the key growth initiatives
  • Take on project tasks when required, such as the integration of new entities into the division
  • Develop monthly reporting pack and KPIs to improve the visibility of financial and non-financial information to strengthen decision making

Skill & Experience

  • Qualified accountant with minimum 3 years PQE in a similar industry
  • Experience working with an SME and a stock-based background
  • Experience of dealing with strong personalities at all business levels
  • Ability to consistently meet strict month-end deadlines
  • Independent thinker and self-starter
  • Ability to influence and negotiate
