Our principal consultant Robin Thomas is searching for an Engineer experienced in integration of control and automation systems, to join a forward thinking automation service and integration company, that have a wide and varied client base across the UK and Europe.

The Role

As a Project Teams Engineer, you’ll be able to design control systems for the company’s key industries, which include but are not limited to; Travel – Airport & Rail, Materials handling – Conveyors & bulk materials, Food & Beverage plus an amount of process orientated solutions. You’ll also document the design work and see each project through on budget and time.

Typically, projects consist of 70% design time and 30% onsite commissioning time, as a broad example for a 10 week project, 7 to 8 weeks of development and 2 to 3 weeks commissioning.

This Projects Team Engineer role offers fantastic opportunities for progression, as the company has a skills pyramid matrix to help progress engineers higher throughout the company. As such, All engineers should have the desire to build on their current skillset and to move through the pyramid.

Skills & Experience 

  • Several years of experience in the integration of control and automation systems
  • Excellent people skills at all levels of service and customer relations
  • Confident ability to handle the latest control & automation products and systems
  • In-depth knowledge using one or more PLC & SCADA systems (Siemens, Allen Bradley or Mitsubishi)
  • Ability to understand and create control system schematics, architecture and panel layouts
  • Ability to generate projects/software/electrical designs from start to finish
  • Good understanding of communication networks – Ethernet, Profinet, Devicenet, ASi etc.
  • Automation electrical & control panel design
  • Programming and commissioning of PLC Software
  • Programming and commissioning of HMI devices
  • Programming and commissioning of SCADA systems, WinCC, Intouch, etc.
  • Programming and commissioning of Variable speed Drive’s in a wide range of applications
  • Ability to produce documentation to a high standard covering Functional Design specifications and Test specifications
  • Ability to work with and lead small teams of engineers to produce high quality solutions
  • Ability to lead sub contract teams onsite, producing specifications and overseeing installations
  • Ability to design and test safety circuits to current standards (SIL 1-2-3 etc), and document using recognised software eg Sistema
  • To be familiar with the Quality System at NIScam and follow procedures and processes in place, whilst suggesting changes and improvements
