We’re looking for a qualified Health and Safety professional to join an engineering firm with a senior management team that has hundreds of years of technical and commercial trading activity in the sector.

A fantastic opportunity has become available, a newly created role of a Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) Manager, where you’ll be responsible for ensuring all businesses in the firm’s group comply with all relevant legal requirements and industry standards (BFPA). You’ll be working with the business managers to deploy and audit strong quality management systems and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance QHSE performance across multiple business locations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain QHSE policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and industry standards
  • Conduct regular risk assessments/audits to identify potential hazards, ensuring appropriate measures are in place to mitigate risks
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Ensure all businesses use the group health and safety management systems
  • Ensure all group businesses are ISO accredited and maintain certification
  • Provide regular training and coaching to employees to enhance their understanding of QHSE policies and procedures
  • Manage and monitor all business emergency procedures, signage, PPE, COSHH
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, business managers, customers, suppliers, and trade associations
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on QHSE performance and improvement projects
  • Stay up to date with emerging QHSE trends and regulations, and industry standards to ensure that the business are always ahead of the curve

Skills & Experience 

  • NEBOSH qualifications – Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Risk Management or equivalent
  • Full UK Driving License
  • Experience within ISO9001 manufacturing or engineering companies
  • Proven experience in conducting health and safety audits
  • Experience in implementing and managing Quality Management Systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of ESG principles
  • Effective communication skills, ability to build relationships at all stakeholder levels
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and attention to detail
  • A passion for continuous improvement and a drive to deliver exceptional results
