Our Principal Consultant Robin Thomas has a fantastic opportunity for a primary valve expert, with an independent valve specialist that partners with the industry’s leading manufacturers.

As a Senior Service Engineer, you’ll be joining a team of highly trained and talented engineers and technicians, and will act as a leader both in the workshop and on site.

The succesful candidate must be willing to work both on and offshore, and must also be skilled in at least two other valve types in addition to their expertise in a primary valve.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strip and Inspections
    – Carry out the pre-testing of orders that are deemed safe to do so. Recording all results
    – Carrying out detailed strip and inspections of all valve types.
    – Compile detailed failure analysis reports as part of the strip and inspection process
    – Maintaining the equipment and area that you are designated
  • Assisting other departments
    – From time to time, there may be a requirement to assist in the production department during busy periods carrying out rebuild, testing and panel creation
    – From time to time, there may be a requirement to assist in the PSV department during busy periods carrying out rebuild and testing
  • Oversee valve site work both onshore and offshore
    – When required, manage site work scopes from the client’s facility making sure that all records and work packs are continuously maintained, and client informed of progress
    – Report to management immediately with any issues concerning the scope of work on a client’s site
    – To lead any scopes where you are the senior engineer, ensuring that all paperwork, tasks and safety responsibilities are carried out in a professional manner by all members of the team
  • Development of Apprentices and Lower Tier staff.
    – Education and Mentoring of any apprentice that has been assigned, showing them the correct procedures and working practices
    – Providing all Lower Tier staff with in-depth knowledge and insights in the standards required for strip and inspections.
    – Providing all Lower Tier Staff with technical knowledge during the red/blue conversion stage
    – Conducting yourself in a positive manner in order to set examples for the Apprentices and Lower
    Tier staff on how to conduct yourself in the working environment.
    – Play an active role in moral awareness and provide personal support as and when required.
    – Provide feedback to management on the progress of Apprentices and Lower Tier staff

Skills & Experience 

Essential

  • Expert knowledge and skill base of Primary Valve Type
  • Skilled knowledge and skill base on at least two other valve types Basic understanding of all other valve types
  • Previous testing experience with at least 10K Gas testing
  • BOSIET and in-date Medical
  • Time management
  • IT Skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Filing System Product knowledge
  • QHSE legal compliance

Desirable

  • Understanding of ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO18001 Calibration
  • FLT Licence
  • Overhead Crane Certificates
  • Supervision Skills
  • Abrasive Wheels Certificate Valve specific training certificates
