We’re looking for an experienced workshop fitter to take on an exciting Supervisor position for a market leading pump specialist with more than 25 years experience in Total Asset Management.

As a Workshop Supervisor, your main purpose is to understand and ensure the accurate stripping and assessment of pumps in the workshop, effectively liaising with administration staff and the Workshop Manager.

This job is predominantly based within workshop, although there will sometimes be a requirement to visit customer sites and other branches to support.

Key Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Assessment of pump repairs for spare parts and re-build of pumps and rotating equipment
  • Communicate coherently & liaise with the internal organisation
  • Be part of the ‘on call’ team
  • Attend customer sites and other branches to support in other works where required
  • Ensure accurate assessments are undertaken, in a timely manner
  • Liaise with suppliers and complete accurate costing sheets in order to provide a timely quotation.
  • Enter all relevant information accurately and send detailed quotes via the company’s quote system
  • Send detailed reports on pump repairs to both customers and internal staff
  • Liaise with the allocated workshop teams to accurately order all required parts to complete the repair works
  • Communicate with suppliers and OEMs to obtain accurate delivery requirements
  • Liaise with all sales team members professionally and support wherever possible
  • Complete overtime where required to provide the service levels that meet company standards
  • Update the Workshop Manager with all problems and issues, in order to resolve quickly and sufficiently
  • Attend and complete all required internal and external training
  • Promote excellence in working practices, including: Health, Safety and Environmental compliance, and team behaviour

Essential Skills & Experience 

  • Full Mechanical apprenticeship
  • Good engineering practice and ability to use engineering measuring equipment
  • Good range of engineering experience, including rotating equipment, bench fitting, and on-site diagnosis
  • Desire to provide exceptional customer service and be a contact point for local customers
  • Eager to assist in the continuous improvement of the organisation

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Electrical training and basic electrical experience
  • Experience in managing or leading a team/project
  • Site work experience
  • Safety passport
  • Pump OEM training
  • Site work experience
  • Experience in any of the following; Condition monitoring, Mechanical seal repair, Laser Alignment training
